I have often dreamed of vanishing in the Emerald City.
And this time, I almost did.
Elegance and regal green royalty were the themes by Zang Toi at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), where amidst futuristic and political and metallica themed attires, his homage to his refined styles remained consistent with former seasons and monochromatic styles. This time, he took inspiration from Lake Garda‘s natural landscape in Italy, recreating the colors of the lakes with deep greens and lighter blues.
Keeping with his signature styles, he had flowing fabrics in flattering cuts in sheer, lace and sequinned embroidery. There were kaftan style tunics and loose fitted bell bottomed pants, simple cut jackets and, surprisingly, some printed fabrics which was a departure from his monochromatic styles. Wraparound skirts and pants with prints were worn with plain green, black or white blouses, radiating elegance with every step of the runway.
Transitioning to evening wear, sequins and blacks came back in vogue, adding an element of sartorial elegance to both menswear and womenswear. The long drapes and flamboyant gowns were eventually what closed the magical evening, akin to being amidst the Wizard of Oz‘s own land himself.
