Come nightfall, this city starts to glint like the stars.

One of my favorite new properties in New York (documented on Dot and Pin too), Public Hotel, celebrated the fame and launch of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for Taschen publishing, created by the duo Mert and Marcus who it was named after. Launched during the iconic New York Fashion Week (NYFW), it made for the perfect set up to launch something as formidable as a photography book collection. Between the glistening candlelight and panoramic New York skyline views, the cocktails and the celebrity studded avenue, it was fun to flick through the massive book which took approximately 20 years to create. The images were bold, sensual, and decked in black and white with touches of provocative rouge and red and blue.

While the rooftop of the architecturally splendid property was decked with stars in the sky and on the steps, we all posed prominently in front of an extra large sign of the book itself. I was clad in my Rogues of London blazer, D-Squared2 shirt, Balmain denim and iconic and favorite red boots, making a statement like jumping out of a similarly hued book.

Come nightfall, we all went to the club area, Public Arts, saturated and splashed in the glint of disco balls that turned from pink to purple to red as the beats got wilder. Truly one of the finest ways to launch a book, something that had conceptually been forgotten in the hands of modern technology.
